Meet the team: 5 mins with Hannah Trueman

Hannah Trueman at desk

Hannah Trueman is Operations Manager at Bespoke HR.

Can you tell us what your role involves?

I am Operations Manager. This means I help Alison with sales activities and help keep the business running operationally day-to-day.

I also look to improve processes and make Bespoke HR more efficient, and a great place to work.

What do you enjoy most about it?

I love the variety of the role; every day is different which keeps it interesting and enables me to keep learning – which is something I enjoy.

What have been your biggest achievements to date?

I first joined Bespoke HR as an HR Assistant in 2015. Since then my role has evolved into my current position, which goes far beyond its original scope. I am now involved in all aspects of the business that I never thought I would be doing.

What are the most common issues our clients face?

Employee relations issues are ones that come up frequently for the majority of our clients. As we work with many SMEs, these issues can have a huge impact on their business both emotionally and financially. It can be really satisfying for us to help them solve these issues in the best way for their business.

What would your advice be to business owners who don’t have HR support but are concerned about their staff?

Making sure they get it right is so important as getting it wrong can have huge consequences.

We would always advise anyone who feels out of depth or overwhelmed to get an expert in. If you’re unsure about something get in touch with a trained HR professional before the issue gets worse. Obviously, I would say call us as I think our consultants are great but as long as they contact someone that can help would be the best advice I can give.

What is it like working for a small business?

I think it’s great, I love working with our tight-knit team and getting stuck into every aspect of the business. This has given me a great understanding of every department and how I can help everyone.

You feel truly involved and part of the business which is a nice feeling. There are times when it can be a challenge, when we are extremely busy it can often mean juggling lots of different tasks at one time, but that’s what makes it exciting!

What’s your most memorable Bespoke HR moment?

Working with Ben & Jerry’s on a large recruitment project was something I won’t forget, not just because of all the ice cream we got to try, but it was the first time I had been involved in recruitment at this level with such a well-known brand and it was great to be a part of.
