Elective Health Partner

Elective Health is our health insurance partner, arranging cover for our clients through an independent broker we know and trust.

Bespoke HR looks after the people side of a business. Health cover sits alongside it, affecting sickness absence, what a business can put in front of the people it wants to attract and keep, and what happens when somebody is off work long-term. Elective Health is the health insurance partner our clients go to for that cover, whether for themselves, for their family, or as a benefit for their team.

Who Elective Health Are

Elective Health is an independent health and protection insurance broker based in Ferndown, Dorset, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Kingsley and Louis founded the business after more than a decade each in the industry, including time at AXA Health and at one of the UK's larger brokerages.

They advise across the whole market rather than acting for a single insurer, so a recommendation follows what the client actually needs. Clients deal directly with Kingsley or Louis rather than working through a call centre, and that carries on after the policy starts, through questions, claims and each year's renewal.

What They Arrange

For a business, Elective Health arranges:

  • Business health insurance and employee benefit schemes for SMEs
  • Cover for company directors, with advice on how it is treated for tax
  • Cover for contractors and the self-employed
  • Group life, income protection and critical illness cover

For individuals and families, they arrange:

  • Private medical insurance
  • Life insurance, income protection and critical illness cover
  • International private medical insurance for people living or working abroad

They also review cover a business or individual already has, at no charge. Where a policy costs more than it needs to, or the cover no longer fits, they say so, and they handle any switch in a way that protects the medical history built up under the existing policy.

Bespoke HR does not give insurance advice. Any recommendation on a policy comes from Elective Health, as a regulated broker.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are Elective Health?

Elective Health is an independent insurance broker specialising in private health insurance and protection cover for individuals, families and businesses. Founders Kingsley and Louis each have over 12 years in the industry. The business is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and is based in Ferndown, Dorset.

What does an independent broker do that going to an insurer directly does not?

An insurer can only sell you its own policies. An independent broker compares what is available across the market and recommends the policy that suits your circumstances, which may or may not be the one you would have found on your own. The broker also deals with the insurer on your behalf at renewal and when you claim.

Can Elective Health arrange cover for our employees?

Yes. They arrange business health insurance and employee benefit schemes for companies of all sizes, including small teams. They also arrange cover for directors and for contractors, where the tax treatment differs from a standard employee scheme. Health cover is one part of what a business puts in front of its staff, and we have free resources on employee wellbeing covering the rest.

Can they review the health insurance we already have?

Yes, and the review costs nothing. They will look at what you currently pay, what the policy covers, and whether the same or better cover is available for less. If your existing policy is already the right one, they will tell you that.

Will we lose the medical history on our current policy if we switch?

Not necessarily. Insurers can transfer the underwriting terms from an existing policy when cover moves, so conditions already covered stay covered. Whether that is possible depends on the policy and the insurer, which is one of the things Elective Health checks before recommending a switch.

Do they cover employees based overseas?

Yes. They arrange international private medical insurance for people relocating, already living abroad, or working internationally, through insurers operating global medical networks.

Is Elective Health part of Bespoke HR?

No. Elective Health is a separate, independent business and a partner rather than part of Bespoke HR, with no common ownership between the two. We work with them because our clients regularly need what they do, and we know the standard of their advice.

How do we get started?
